FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW! ASK US ANYTHING!

Can I bring my own food or drinks?

No.  For legal reasons, outside food and drinks are prohibited on our Portland boat tours.

Can I purchase food and drinks during the boat tour?

Yes!  We have a variety of beer, wine & tropical ciders as well as other fun beverages and snacks for the kids.

What about bad weather?

We sail rain or shine!  Our boat is now partially enclosed with new heat sources on board for the winter! Palapa top is waterproof & covers most of the boat. On rainy days, bring a raincoat (No umbrellas please)!  If for any reason the captain determines that a tour could be unsafe due to weather, etc. (i.e. lightning) we will make every effort to inform you at least one hour prior to your scheduled departure.  If we cancel unexpectedly, you will receive a full refund.

Are tips included in the price?

No, but gratuities are always greatly appreciated! You’ll find a Square QR code and a cash jar near the bar if you want to show your appreciation for our crew!

How early should I arrive before my tour?

Please note the “Check-in” time on your confirmation email (30 minutes prior to the tour) and allow extra time for traffic and parking. Your confirmation email contains additional instructions about check-in/ arrival and departure.

To help speed up the check-in process, please take time to sign the online waiver in advance for yourself and any minor children.

Portland Visitors, please note: Expect traffic delays in and around downtown Portland, especially at rush hour!

Where does the boat tour start and end?

Our Portland Boat tours start at South Waterfront Park on the Willamette River in the heart of downtown Portland, Oregon.

2001 S River Drive, Portland, Oregon 97201

Please do not attempt to board the vessel early.  Our staff will meet you at the park benches above the dock.  Once everyone has been checked-in, our crew will escort the entire tour group to the boat.

Note: If you are using a ride-share app (Uber/Lift) make sure the driver checks the address once in route.  Some Apps have a glitch that causes the address to change to “SW” vs. “S” River Drive.

Is there parking near the dock?

There are a couple public parking garages within a short walking distance from the embarkation dock as well as paid on-street parking.  Download parking apps, like Parking Kitty, in advance for added convenience.

Is there a restroom on board?

We have a restroom on board, but encourage guests to also use the nearby public restroom before boarding (especially for kids!) and follow the “no solids” rule while on board.

What should I bring?

Bring a valid driver’s license if you plan to consume alcohol.  We accept debit or credit cards for food and drink purchases. For tips (only) we also accept cash or square payments. Keep in mind, it can feel colder (or be sunnier) out on the water than on land.  Sunglasses or a brimmed hat may come in handy. On chillier days and nights, consider bringing a beanie & a puffy (for all you non-Pacific Northwest natives, that’s a cozy hat & warm jacket!) or you may even want a personal blanket on colder, windy days.

Do I need to wear or bring a life jacket?

Our vessel is equipped with USCG-certified Type I PFDs (life vests) for all passengers, available for use in case of emergency. Adults are not required to wear lifejackets during the cruise, but you are welcome to bring your own USCG-approved lifejacket if it makes you more comfortable.

Oregon state law requires children under 12 to wear a lifejacket at all times while on board. We provide USCG-certified lifejackets for children, or you may bring your own. Parents are responsible for ensuring compliance with this regulation.

What if I’m running late?

Out of respect for timely passengers, we start all boat tours on time.  If you are late you will miss the tour, forfeit your ticket and its cost.

Are all tickets the same price?

Tour prices vary depending on day, time, tour type and season.  We offer a discount to senior citizens (62+), veterans and active military (ID required), and children’s tickets are reduced on select tours.

Are children allowed?

Yes!  Check out our Family Fun Tours for great prices on children’s tickets!  Our boat tours are one of the best fun family things to do in Portland, Oregon! These tours are set up to be more affordable and extra fun for the kiddos!

Do I have to buy a ticket for a baby if I hold them on my body or lap?

Yes. The Coast Guard counts every human or “soul” as part of the passenger count regardless of age and our capacity is limited. Therefore, you will need to purchase a ticket, provide the full name of your child or infant at check-in and sign a separate liability waiver on their behalf. On select tours children and infant prices are reduced.  For legal reasons, lap infants are not permitted on our 21+ tours.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes!  Join our mailing list for great deals and coupons plus our newsletter and early bird invitations to special events.

Please visit our private charters page for large group pricing for your special event.

We also offer reduced rates for seniors (62+), veterans with ID, and lower rates for kids on select cruises.  On our standard (non-holiday) public cruises, we also  offer 10% off for groups of 10 or more (when purchased as a group – simply use code “Group10” when booking).

How do I get my tickets after I purchase them?

A confirmation email will be emailed to you along with arrival instructions. This is your ticket.  Please be prepared to show your confirmation along with a matching ID at check-in, 30 minutes before your boat tour.

Can tickets be purchased at the dock?

Tickets must be purchased online to secure a spot. On occasion, we may sell tickets at the door after all pre-paid guests are checked in, but this is not guaranteed. Tours often sell out two weeks in advance so it’s best to book early!

What is your Cancellation Policy?

When you book “directly” through our website, we guarantee a full refund for cancellations up to 48 hours in advance of your scheduled departure. We sail rain or shine! If for any reason the captain determines that a tour could be unsafe due to weather, etc. (i.e. lightning) we will make every effort to inform you at least one hour prior to your scheduled departure.
